Conference Film: Hopeful Attachments on a Ruined Planet

| News

After my fellowship at the DFG Humanities Centre for Advanced Studies “Futures of Sustainability” from april to june this year, I produced in october a conference film. The film features some impressions from the Annual Conference 2024: “Hopeful Attachments on a Ruined Planet“, 9-11 October 2024, organized by the DFG Humanities Centre for Advanced Studies “Futures of Sustainability” at the University of Hamburg.

The conference explored the entanglements of catastrophic and hopeful thinking in the Anthropocene. It examined the role of hopeful attachments in the midst of the ongoing destruction of life-worlds. As more and more ecosystems and social fabrics are threatened, what forms of visionary, future-oriented politics might still emerge?
